Traditional Postpartum Care
ROOTED IN ANCESTRAL PRACTICE
S

Cerrada Ceremony for those desiring culturally meaningful care during their
Sacred Cuarentena

The Cerrada Ceremony is an incredibly meaningful and special way of caring for your newly postpartum body, mind, and heart. At each visit, we will do an emotional, mental, and physical check in starting with your birth story. Next we will check in on baby and how they are doing and address any feeding concerns or questions. This usually includes an evaluation of a feeding, hands on-support, and a weight check. By now you will be smelling the sweet medicinal scent of your bath herbs steeping on your stove. After baby has eaten and is content, you will enter your bathroom that has been turned into your every own temazcal style bath complete with steam, incense, and medicinal herbs that promote detoxification, blood circulation, healing, muscle relief, relaxation, and grounding. After your soak, we will wrap your belly in a gentle but supportive Mexican Baja to support your core and womb. Next we is the Cerrada de Caderas. Using rebozos, your body will be wrapped firmly but gently, encouraging your body to come back to center and close as we thank it for all the hard work it has done and continues to do. Any women-identifying family members are welcome to participate in this beautifully sacred ritual if they would like to.
